American Board of Sexology

The American Board of Sexology, and is made up of a higher percentage of doctoral level Diplomates than the other organizations can boast. This is due to the nature of the organization. ABS is dedicated to providing quality assurance to the consumer and certifying and nurturing clinicians in the practice of sex therapy and sex counseling. The ABS also request reviews by current and previous clients to those clinicians of the practice and verify that these reviews are accurate. Thru its attention to quality assurance to the public of Certified Sexologists and Board Certified Diplomates, the American Board of Sexology has grown its members steadily over the past 35 years. In the most recent renewal period, the board experienced the highest percentage of renewals of any similar period in our history. Certified Sexologists and Board Certified Diplomates have continued to maintain their certifications yearly and you will be with a solid, growing organization

American Association of Sex Educators Counselors and Therapists

The American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) is a not-for-profit, interdisciplinary professional organization. In addition to sexuality educators, sex counselors, and sex therapists, AASECT members include physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, allied health professionals, clergy members, lawyers, sociologists, marriage and family counselors and therapists, family planning specialists and researchers, as well as students in relevant professional disciplines.  These individuals share an interest in promoting understanding of human sexuality and healthy sexual behavior. Dr. Ava is an AASECT Certified Sex Counselor.

Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality

Dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about sexuality, the SSSS was founded in 1957 to encourage the rigorous systematic study of sexuality. More than 1,000 individuals hold membership in this non-profit professional membership organization.  The strength of the Society is the range of disciplines represented by its members, conference participants, and journal authors.  Membership includes anthropologists, biologists, educators, historians, nurses, physicians, psychologists, sociologists, theologians, therapists, and many other disciplines.

With a strong commitment to “the next generation” through the support of a vigorous student membership program, a broad range of committee activity provides numerous opportunities for the involvement of members in the work of the Society.  The Society’s award program recognizes professional excellence, public service and service to The Society.  Dr. Ava is a current SSSS member.

Screen Actors Guild – The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA)

SAG-AFTRA represents more than 160,000 actors, announcers, broadcasters journalists, dancers, DJs, news writers, news editors, program hosts, puppeteers, recording artists, singers, stunt performers, voiceover artists and other media professionals. SAG-AFTRA members are the faces and voices that entertain and inform America and the world.
